Where to find framing controls

Select the main video in the preview or timeline, then use the inspector on the right. Framing controls include aspect ratio, crop, scale, position, and background.

You can also drag the video and overlays directly in the preview to reposition them.

Aspect ratio

Choose the output frame before export:

  • 16:9 WidescreenDefault for landscape screen recordings and YouTube
  • 9:16 VerticalShorts, Reels, TikTok, and Stories
  • 1:1 SquareFeed posts and profile clips

Changing aspect ratio may add letterboxing. Use a background (below) or crop to fill the frame intentionally.

Crop

Trim edges of the source video with independent sliders for top, bottom, left, and right (0–40% each). Cropping is non-destructive — reset edits or adjust handles anytime before export.

Combine crop with scale and drag in the preview to keep the important UI or presenter area centered in a vertical frame.

Background

When your video does not fill the output frame, choose what appears behind it:

  • NoneBlack letterbox areas
  • SolidPick a brand color with the color control
  • BlurA blurred version of your video fills the margins (4–32px strength)

Blurred backgrounds are popular for vertical reframes: the main content stays sharp in the center while the edges feel polished instead of empty.

Transform

Scale and position the main clip in the preview. Overlay layers (text, media, captions) have their own transform handles when selected — they move independently of the main video crop.
