Effects and transitions

Color presets, manual grading, and segment transitions in OhRec Studio.

Effects tool

Open Effects from the Studio tool rail. Changes apply to the live preview and are baked into your export — they do not modify the original recording file.

Choose a preset or fine-tune with sliders:

  • NoneNeutral look (default)
  • VividBoosted saturation and contrast
  • WarmWarmer color temperature
  • CoolCooler, slightly desaturated tone
  • MonoGrayscale
  • CinemaSofter contrast with a film-like grade

Adjusting any slider automatically switches the preset to None so your manual values are preserved.

Manual controls

  • Brightness50–150%
  • Contrast50–150%
  • Saturation0–200%
  • Blur0–12px soft blur on the main video (useful for subtle depth or privacy)

Transitions

Open Transitions from the tool rail. Transitions play between adjacent segments when you export — they are not visible as separate clips on the timeline.

  • NoneHard cut between segments
  • FadeFade out the outgoing clip, fade in the incoming clip
  • DissolveCross-dissolve overlap between segments

Set Transition duration from 100ms to 1000ms. Shorter durations feel snappy for tutorials; longer dissolves work for montage-style edits.

When to use what

  • Trim + hard cutFastest workflow for removing mistakes (transition set to None)
  • FadeSoft open/close when reordering segments into a new narrative
  • Warm / VividConsistent look across webcam-heavy recordings
  • MonoFocus attention when paired with bold text overlays
