Export

Render a new WebM from your OhRec edit while preserving the original recording.

Last updated August 2026

How export works

OhRec Studio plays your edited timeline through a canvas compositor and records the result with MediaRecorder. This produces a new file — the original OhRec recording is never overwritten.

  1. Click Export video in the Studio header.
  2. Choose a name and preset (1080p, 720p, or Vertical).
  3. Wait for render and save — progress shows in the export dialog.
  4. The new recording appears in your library; open it from the success action or library page.

What gets rendered

  • Timeline segment order and trims
  • All visible overlays (text, elements, annotations, captions, media layers)
  • Effects, transitions, crop, background, and aspect ratio settings
  • Volume, mute, fades, and normalization from the Audio tool

Preview-only features (such as on-video waveform) are not included until burn-in ships.

Presets

  • WebM 1080p — landscape 1920×1080 (or matching aspect). Best quality for tutorials and YouTube.
  • WebM 720p — 1280×720. Smaller file size and faster render.
  • Vertical 9:16 — 1080×1920 portrait output for Shorts, Reels, and TikTok. Pair with Crop and framing or Vertical video.

Format and troubleshooting

Exports are WebM today. MP4 is on the roadmap for broader sharing without conversion.

If export fails:

  • Retry in Chrome or Edge with the tab focused
  • Shorten the edit or try 720p if memory is limited
  • Download the original recording from the library as a fallback
